Firstly I would like to mention that these things are definitely not toys! They require alot of practice and concentration to master the flight characteristics they hold, BUT, once mastered they make for an awesome little flying machine!
The Hubsan brand has a string of RC models up it's sleeve, and they have a vast knowledge of what makes good saleable models. So, it's no surprise that with the ever growing urge for RC enthusiasts to buy Drones, or, quadcopters, Hubsan ventured into a market to accommodate the real RC geek and the average Joe like you and I.
They came up with these TINY little quadcopters called the X4.

The models I am looking at are the basic model version 2, which has LEDs to assist night flight, and the intermediate model which has LEDs and an onboard camera also.
Whilst in expert mode, it will flip 360degrees, left, right, front, and back, and the sensitivity of the controller is amplified 100%.
The transmitter does have some cool tricks to play with. You can access the flight controls and adjust sensitivity in both beginner and expert mode, so it allow the flight to match exactly how want it, which is always a massive bonus when flying something so small.
One of the best things about this quad, is the fact it uses a 2.4Ghz frequency, which hops the frequency to avoid interference with other RC devices, and it also gives it an approximate range of 100m dependant on the area your flying in. That's a huge distance to fly such a fast little quad!
The CAMERA version has a built in VGA quality camera, and a microSD memory card slot for recording your flight too. With a click of the side button you can record your flight instantly, and to be honest, the video quality isn't too bad! You can clearly make out what the camera sees, even if it's a little sensitive to the jerky movements of the quad.
The biggest difference I have noticed between the two models is the strength. The basic model is alot stronger and more resistant to crashes than the camera version. I have crashed both, and the H107C smashed to pieces, whereas the basic model didn't.
All in all, the hubsan X4 is brilliant! It's the perfect quad to start with, as it's inexpensive, and parts are very cheap, and fixing these things isn't a big job at all if your handy with a soldering
iron!
