Sealskinz products review.

Thanks to the good people at 'Sealskinz' I have had the chance to review  the 'Sealskinz' waterproof winter hat, socks, and extreme cold gloves.

So lets start with the hat. It is amazingly waterproof and really does not let any water in at all, but at the same time it wicks away the sweat from your head. With fully welded and taped seams and a durable ripstop outer fabric, you can be sure you won't get a soaked head if the weather catches you out.
It also boasts a microfleece lining which does an excellent job of keeping your head warm, and controlling the moisture you produce. Together with an adjustable Velcro toggle at the rear and drop down ear flaps, you can really get a tight and secure fit. The peak has a soft metal insert which allows you to adjust it to suit yourself and it will stay in the position you manipulate it to.
It has a thermal rating of 4, which means it is very warm and definitely one for the colder months! Sizes vary -  S = 55cm  M= 57cm  L= 59cm  XL = 61 cm.
Pricing from 'Sealskinz' indicate £27.95 which is a cracking price considering the quality of the design and materials.

The socks are thin, lightweight, and again totally waterproof. They offer supreme protection against wet weather and are Ideal for walking, sailing, cycling, in any conditions. They feature the same welded and taped construction with a 'Merino wool' inner, which is soft and durable.

• Anatomically designed
• Close fitting knitted construction
• Fine Merino wool lining for warmth and moisture control
• Elasticated instep and Achilles ankle panel provide support and ensure a close, comfortable fit.
They come in various sizes and cost £27.95 which again is not a bad price to keep your feet dry in those severe conditions.
I use mine for cycling and I always come home with dry feet, which is essential to minimise cracked skin or fungal infections. Definitely worth a purchase!

And last but not least I have tested out the 'Exteme Cold Weather Gloves'.
These gloves are by far the warmest and most comfortable gloves I have ever tried. The guys at 'Sealskinz' opted to use a 'Primaloft' insulation insert, which retains the self-generated heat off your hands extremely well.
The leather palm is a very grippy goatskin leather which is soft, durable, and stretchy, so enables you to grab and hold things with ease. They feature a corrugated knuckle design which aids movement in the hands and adds another aspect of protection as it is tightly stitched together to form the 'corrugated' effect. Again, the waterproof membrane plays a huge role in the design of these gloves, with the fully welded and taped seams you can be sure that your hands stay completely dry and warm.

• Pre-curved box finger construction
• 3D ‘natural feel’ providing flexibility
• Heavy duty outer shell
• Articulated knuckles increase flexibility
• Primaloft® insulation throughout
• Goatskin leather palms - soft and supple providing better grip
• Full-length gaiter cuff
• One handed ‘quick-cinch’ fastener for extra protection at the cuff
The gloves come in at £65 from the 'Sealskinz' website, and are very much a high performing item to have in your mountaineering pack or day bag if you are a winter walker. I would suggest that these would be ideal for those people who, ( like me), suffer from poor circulation and struggle to keep their hands warm during the colder months. Ultimately they are an all rounder that do exactly what they're supposed to! A MASSIVE like from me!
